Hi there, I hope you are doing well. What I can see from your question is that you are on a low calorie diet, and you've been working out frequently, and you've given yourself a total of 6 months to lose weight. Few things that I'd like to point out- - We need to look at weight loss as opting to live a healthier lifestyle, it needs to become a part of our lifestyle. Healthy eating and exercise cannot be a short-term goals, because the moment you go back to your normal lifestyle, chances of gaining that weight back is high. - A low-calorie diet can be detrimental in the long run, and your body is likely to resist further weight loss. Calorie deficit is needed when we need to lose weight but extremely low calorie diets can lead to nutritional deficiencies, and hinder weight loss. Hence, I'd suggest you to eat a balanced diet with enough fibre, protein, and good fats. - Also, don't just focus on the scale, if you feel energetic and are able to fit in to your old clothes, it's positive.

#PeriodTalk We all know from common knowledge that an ideal period lasts between 3-5 days. However, for some women periods can last for 7 days throughout their lives. This doesn't indicate that something is wrong. The ideal period length is the average you have for each period. A normal period day would be using 3-5 pads, or changing out your cup 3-4 times a day. More on the first couple of days when periods are usually heavier. If you have to use more than 5-7 pads during all days of your period and feel increasing fatigue it would be ideal to get it checked to ensure there is no cause for heavy bleeding and you don't have anemia as a result.
B. 3-7 days in my case :)
Answer
#PeriodTalk How do you track your period? Are you able to figure out when you are expecting your period every month without tracking? Share signs you notice that your period is around the corner in the comments below.
Hi Dr Frank, So, I have an app to track my period date. However, sometimes I forget to add the date, and hence, I try and remember it. Here's how I understand that my period is on the way- - I experience lower back pain and it's extremely pronounced just before my period. - My legs pain, and sometimes that's mild swelling as well if I stand for too long. - I have mild to moderate headache. - My mood swings are in full "swing" just before my period. - I feel too hot at times, and tend to sweat more than usual. - My cravings increase, and my appetite goes down. - There's loads of bloating, my stomach puffs up, so does my face, and yes, acidity is something that I usually face just before menstruation. - Skin becomes oily and I feel really tired and drained out a day before my period...anyone can make it out easily.

Answer
Why am I bleeding a little bit after sex?
Hi there, I hope you are well. Penetrative sex may lead to bleeding, especially if it's rough sex, there isn't enough lubrication, etc. If you frequently bleed after sex, then, it is important to rule out other issues such as endometriosis, PID, Uterine Fibroids, polyps , infections, etc. Hence, kindly check with your gynecologist and seek an opinion over it :) You shall be fine, don't worry. Take care ✨🌸
Answer
#AskDocM Do you know when you are ovulating? A 34-year-old woman noticed bleeding and cramping for two days approximately two weeks before her periods. This has been happening consecutively for six months now. She notes spotting and cramping on one side. The bleeding stops on its own. She uses panty liner and doesn't require pads as the bleeding isn't much. Do you think she should consult a gynecologist? What could be reasons she is noticing spotting during her menstrual cycle?
Hi @docmfrank I hope you are well, Spotting can happen due to various reasons including - - Use of birth control pills - Ovulation - Pregnancy - Implantation bleeding - Uterine fibroids - Endometriosis - PID ( Pelvic inflammation disease) - Sexually transmitted disease - PCOS - Thyroid issues - Certain medications - Trauma caused to the reproductive organs such as that during "rough sex". - Stress - Uterine polyps , and even cancer. I think in her case, it could be ovulation, or something like PCOS, birth control, or Fibroids :) She should see a gynecologist once, and go through a Transvaginal scan to understand the reason behind it. Prevention is better than cure :)
Answer
#HealthCheck When was the last time you checked in with your doctor? Do you make it a point to check in yearly?
Yes, always! In fact, the moment I feel that my body has been giving me some signals, and I haven't been as energetic as I usually am...then, I'll visit the doctor as soon as possible.

How can I create a balanced and nutritious diet plan that supports both my thyroid health and overall well-being?
Hi Koushiki, I hope you are well. To support your thyroid health you require nutrients like Iodine, selenium, iron, zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin B12. These nutrients will also support your overall health. - You can get these foods from green leafy vegetables ( have it cooked), lean meat, eggs, dairy and dairy products, fresh fish ( avoid fried fish for it has higher amounts of salt in it) , sweet potato, pumpkin seeds, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, carrot, bell peppers, etc. - Additionally have Cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, kale in the cooked form only. - Go slow on consumption of soy and peanuts. - Include enough fibre and protein in your diet to ensure overall health. - Start your day with lukewarm water and a couple of soaked nuts. - Keep yourself active, and keep stress at bay. - Have mid-meals or healthy snacks to support your energy requirements. - Avoid ultra processed, packaged and refined foods . Take care ✨

Constipation in pregnancy can be common and uncomfortable, both at the same time. It can be accompanied by bloating, abdominal pain, back ache, headache, general tiredness, and even piles. ✅What is pregnancy constipation? Pregnancy constipation is when you are unable to pass stools or you experience pain and difficulty while passing stools. This can lead to increased straining with little to no results or even a sensation to poop all the time. ✅When does it begin ? Pregnancy constipation can set in during the 8th week of gestation, and for some it may get better, while for others it may remain until the third trimester. ✅What causes pregnancy constipation? While, we are very quick to put the blame on hormones ,especially progesterone because it causes muscles in the bowel which move stools further towards the intestine and out, to relax thereby slowing down gastric emptying. However, there can be various other reasons including - 🌸Your growing womb 🌸 Inadequate hydration 🌸Low fibre intake 🌸Reduced activity 🌸Iron supplements ✅How can you relieve constipation during pregnancy? 👉 Include complex carbohydrate rich foods to your diet ( wheat, oats, ragi, barley, nuts, and seeds). 👉 Add fresh fruits and vegetables to the diet. 👉 Have porridges, soups, and smoothies rather than consuming heavy meals. 👉Have prunes early morning with a glass of lukewarm water. 👉 Drink enough water, coconut water, buttermilk, etc 👉Have iron rich foods like spinach, nuts, seeds, beans, ragi, etc to decrease dependency on supplements. 👉Keep yourself active, talk to your doctor regarding it. 👉Don't skip prenatal supplements, rather talk to your doctor for a different one. 👉Talk to your doctor regarding stool softeners, and laxatives, if needed. 👉Avoid processed or packaged foods.

Just like we require food to function, your gut bacteria need food to grow. PREBIOTICS are carbohydrates that the body cannot digest. These carbohydrates travel to the lower digestive tract and help growth of good bacteria. ✨ Our favourite prebiotic rich food is sprouts. ✨ Sprouts are a good source of dietary fibre, and this fibre nourishes the gut bacteria. ✨ Consumption of sprouts can indirectly contribute to a healthier gut. ✨ A healthy gut is a roadmap to better digestion ,immunity, and overall health. 👉Sprouts are also a good source of Iron, calcium, Magnesium, potassium, Vitamin B complex, etc. 👉While these sprouts are low on calories, they can help you feel full , and prevent overeating. Other Prebiotic rich foods are as follows ✅Apple ✅Banana ✅Flaxseeds ✅Oats ✅Barley ✅Wheat Bran ✅Garlic ✅Onions ✅Legumes ✅Asparagus ✅Chia seeds ✅Tomato ✅Cauliflower ✅Amaranth ✅Buckwheat ✅Ginger ✅Rosemary Hence, ensure to consume Prebiotic rich foods regularly to boost the growth of good gut bacteria.

Road trips are fun! I am sure, that most of you would agree with us. Long road trips, exploring the countryside, greenery feels absolutely amazing. However, while planning your trip it's important to pay attention towards your health, as well as well-being. Here are some BONUS TIPS for you - ✅ Consume or carry an apple and handful nuts such as almonds, and walnuts to prevent the feeling of nausea or vomiting. ✅ Carry some lemon water along or you can even prepare ginger, mint, and lemon detox water to sip in between the trip. ✅ Sleep for good 8 hours before the trip, and take a break in between if you are tired. Halts are important in case you are driving. ✅ Have a cup of plain curd or Greek yogurt, buttermilk in between your trip. ✅Avoid caffeine or sodas on your trip as it can worsen nausea, and lead to dehydration. ✅Avoid skipping meals, and over-eating. ✅Avoid smoking and avoid going near people who smoke, this can trigger motion sickness. ✅Eat light snacks on your trip, ensure that these snacks are not greasy, spicy, or loaded with calories. ✅Get some fresh air , and in case you encounter numbness in your feet, and hands, carry foods rich in Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, and magnesium.

Ever heard a kat-kat like sound while walking or doing a particular movement? Then, you aren't alone. Our knees, knuckles, and ankles make this cracking, and popping sound as we do some or the other movement, day in and day out. Reason ?Nitrogen bubbles get trapped in the synovial fluid, and on release lead to cracking sound which is considered to be normal if not accompanied by any pain. Cracking sound usually increases with age, and is harmless. It's also known as "CREPITUS". However, if it is accompanied with pain, or a dull ache , then there could be a reason behind it. Let's look at the conditions that can lead to pain, cracking, and popping of joints. ✅Arthritis- This could be a normal part of ageing, and the most common one happens to be osteoarthritis. There can be breakdown cartilage, leading to swelling and pain. This can be accompanied with a painful grinding sound. ✅Meniscus Tear-Meniscus is a cartilage that sits between weight bearing joints like tibia, and femur. In case, it is damaged, the edges can get stuck during a movement. This can become a reason for painful crepitus, and swelling. ✅Patellofemoral pain syndrome - A dull ache behind the patella (kneecap) can indicate an injury or overuse. During a movement, there can be a grating, crunching sound followed by pain. How to tackle the situation with nutrition if cracking is accompanied by pain? ✨Keep yourself hydrated ✨ Maintain a healthy weight as your body weight lies on your joints. ✨Get your Vitamin D and calcium tests done. ✨ Consume an anti-inflammatory diet. Add fresh fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, yogurt, buttermilk, fatty fish, pulses, beans, to your diet. ✨Avoid consumption of processed, refined, and processed foods. ✨Keep the consumption of salt, sugar, to a minimum. ✨Keep yourself active, and opt for low-impact exercises.
I've been struggling with this issue for ages. Your video provided the clarity I needed. Thank you!

Make the right choice and....REPLACE #replace #avoid morningtea
Hi there, I hope you are well. -As a nutritionist, I personally feel that there isn't a need to replace morning tea/coffee. -A person can consume his/her tea/coffee in moderation with less sugar :) - We need to wake up healthy and happy, and if that cup of tea makes one happy, I'd always let it remain :)
